28 Feb 2008

Just before the calendar changes to March, i got a parcel from SG!!
it felt so good to receive a parcel in your mailbox...not the email one but a box where the postman has to come by your doorstep to delivery it and you will have to sign for it!
this is my 1st parcel in US...minus those parcels i got from online shopping...hehe!
so much warmth and thoughts in this normal yet special box wrapped in brown...
it had travelled so far all the way to reach me!
best of all...it's from one of my best buddies, XINRONG!!
*muacks and huggies*
all thanks to her, i got it! ohh...gonna thank her mother too...
THANK YOU, AUNTIE!
cos i got an "angpao" from her, together with a SG dollar for best wishes~
i have been craving to eat yusheng...i really really miss it and i miss my CNY in SG too!
i cant wait to eat it~~haha...
even CNY is over already, i'm just glad at least i have the chance to have it!

22-24 Feb 2008 - NYC Trip (Part Three)

it's the 3rd and last day in NYC...
met up with a new friend and went to Top of the Rock!
got the bird-eye's view of the Mahattan...
so refreshing up on the viewing deck...
the city looks so packed yet interesting,
beautiful yet complex...

Rockefeller Plaza
(aka: Top of the Rock / The Rock)

Got tickets at a cheaper rate too!!
all thanks to Nicole~

What a classic MTV pose, right??
hahaa....but i like this pic!

it's a girlies' day out!

the BIG SWAROVSKI CRYSTAL STAR upon the Xmas tree at Rockefeller every year...

1 million crystal art piece!!

the famous picture from the Rock...

22-24 Feb 2008 - NYC Trip (Part Two)

2nd day in NYC started off with visiting Ground Zero...
you can say that it's just a construction site....
with all the giant cranes, iron rods, concrete blocks and cement dust flying all around but there's a lot more than just a normal site...
it's filled with sadness for it's lost together with hope for the future...
there's a WTC Path Station put up to show you the history of that fateful day,
what was done and what will be coming up in the near future...

i didn't feel a heart pain lost till i saw this pic!
he is an officer...but yet he shed tears that was right from the bottom of his heart!
i felt his pain instantanously at that very moment....
felt how vulnerable that one can become....
even when the strongest person have to face with the lost of loved ones,
they will break down....

Lunch at NYC Chinatown!
Lucky day for the restaurant~
Stupid customers who ordered 6 plates of noodles!
IT WAS SUCH A "FULL" MISTAKE!!

Not to be MISSED!!
Who cares about the cold chilly winter day?!?

eating ice-cream along the streets in the cold...
*Yummy*

The Empire State Building
here's where the King Kong attacks!

Grand Central Station

interior of the station was just so nicely done!

One of the famous CHOCOLATE hunt places...
Hershey's @ Times Square

as usual...i don't really fancy chocolate...
but this is the only thing i like in the shop!

Located directly across Hershey's...
here's M&M's World @ Times Square!

the full range of colour selections for M&M is just so crazy!

i got my small bag of M&M...
just because i wanna try the limited edition of Cherry-flavoured M&M!
hehe...i only got a handful of them (like 20 pieces)
yet i took more than a week to finish them...

The Oscars in town!

The ever well-known "Golden Man"....

"I would like to thank my parents and friends...
the director and crew...the panel of judges and the audiences!
Thank you so much for this award!!
Thank you!!...Thank you!!"
HAHAHA...*so cheesy*
It's the REAL thing...quite heavy so it's really GOLD! @.@

Yeah....going for Broadway Musical is one of my fav!!
This time it's RENT on the list!

cost me USD$60 for the musical...
it's such a steal for tickets that cost USD$110 normally!!!
i was seated in right in the centre area facing the stage!
so happy though tired from the long day...
it's all worth it to queue and squeeze with the crowd to "nab" the tickets!

22-24 Feb 2008 - NYC Trip (Part One)

AT LAST!!!
after a month in New York, we are going on a short trip over the weekends to New York City... aka The Big Apple or The City that NEVER Sleeps!
here's the funny part about our trip...
i) 7 of us going but on seperate routes yet we are sharing the cost for transportation!
(3 taking bus...4 taking a lift from a car...both ways!)
ii) 6 of us staying together at the hostel and 1 staying in Ritz Carlton Hotel!
******
though all of us did not do everything together...yet we all had fun and enjoyed ourselves!
we will be BACK for more in NYC!!
******
i think we are all "being kept away" from the city in the suburbs for a long long time
(hehe...it's just about a month actually!)
it's a BREAK-FREE into the city....

early to work, early to leave...
all pack and ready for the CITY!

planning...planning...planning...
we have no time to waste cos there's so much to see, to eat, to do and to play!

Here we are~ Right the centre of NYC, Manhatten!

In front of the place where we got dropped off the bus....
it's MACY'S...the world's largest store!!
(If you have not seen MACY'S, you have not been to NYC!)
Here's my 1st and only shopping in NYC!
it's on sale...i got my DKNY Jeans Cardigan for USD$16....
yeah~ i got my cheap bargain again!!

Checked in to the hostel...
lying on my "bed"...looking at the map again...
feeling so hungry while waiting for those taking the car ride to reach...

just too hungry to wait any longer...
the fastest and nearest >>>> MacDonald's!
my dinner...the new Angus Third Pounders (Mushrooms and Swiss)
it's even bigger than the Big Mac!!!
the taste is just so AWESOME!!!
juicy patty with so much mushrooms and melting Swiss cheese....
(or maybe i'm just too hungry??)

13 Feb 2008

was "forced" to knock off at 3pm from work today...
Reason:
Due to the snowy and ice conditions which might be dangerous to drive on roads, so for everyone's safety...all should go home early!!
Heehee...only my department's director allows us to be release at 3pm!
Other departments only can go off after 4pm...
my department's director is so nice...he brought us for the ski trip too!!
wanted to go gym but ended up staying home to blog....
cooked and had early dinner....
i ate so much of macaroni soup tonight!!
will have to hit the gym for a run soon...
EHHH....tomorrow's V-day!!!
but but but...hai~~~...no dates...no plans...
hopefully the weather wouldn't be that chilly...
(i heard last year they had a snowstorm on V-day!)

10 Feb 2008 - CNY House Visiting

1st and only one CNY housing visiting in US is my company's CFO, Mark Frost's house!
it's his wife, Pang who invited us over for a special CNY dinner for us to feel and enjoy the CNY celebration away from home, she tried to make it feels like back at home as much as possible...so touched!
after the 1st meeting with her, she has been helping us alot in terms of getting asian food for cooking, where to go for decent and nice chinese food, where and how to shop to get great discount and good bargains, knowing more of the US culture and making us feel like home in another country...
She is really like a real life fairy godmother...she said she already "adopted" us!
******
Especially when you are away from home,
you feel so thankful and overwhelm by the warmth shone on you from such true and sincere person...
******

the whole group getting ready and waiting for Mark to drive us to his house...
~~~~~~
*this is one of the last few pics taken by my camera...
cos it fell and the LCD screen was gone after that, going to send it for repair...hopefully the repair wouldn't make a hole in my pocket!
starting of the CNY i already lost my red Swatch watch...*sad*...moreover it was a Xmas present!
and now the next "casualty" is my camera...haiya~
~~~~~~
Our small little gift for the Frost family...
it's a bottle of MOET champagne!

The living room with a real fireplace (with firewood at the side!!!)

Open concept kitchen...
two Frost kids helping out in the kitchen!

You will only get to see these decorations here!!

OOOO....who broke the glass door?!?

you cant imagine how big is their house...the basement is for the kids to PLAY!!
there's a basketball shooter, a table-tennis table, a game soccer table and a big TV for games that comes with the famous Dance Revolution mat together with a latest game Guitar add-on!

My housemate in action!!

You can have the choice of playing whatever u like...

The dinner spread was so good!

The farm fruit pies for dessert...goes so well with vanilla ice-cream!
Choice 1: Very Berry...all the blueberries, strawberries and raspberries
Choice 2: The Riverview...walnuts, raisins, apples and cinnamon
SO HAPPY!!
