26 Mar 2008 - Project Review

one more milestone achieved in AMRI...
1st Project Review presentation went well!
GOOD JOB!
though i had only 5 slides this time,
it's an experience!
also there was still some expectation on me from my team...
my team guys were great in helping me to get comfortable presenting,
listening to my rehearsals and having confidence in me!
i'm so thankful to have them!
******
seated in order perparing for the "trial"
those guys never dress up so smart before...today only!!

Introducing the 4331 Project team...

Joel Walker (left) and Feryan Ahmed (right)

Feryan is my supervisor for this 18 months of training!

He's nice and always so willing to teach or help out in anything.

and he has got two twin boys...SO cute!

Joel is working beside my fumehood in the lab.

I always tease and joke with him...yet he always gives me good advices on stuffs....

especially travelling to other places...i borrowed maps from him!!

he had moved and lived in many states in US!

he knows alot of things too...chemistry, music, travelling are top on his list...

David Jenkins (left) and Chris Manley (right)

Dave is my training partner...i tacked along with him doing chemistry since i started.

He has got a cute little "buddy" (his son who's going to be 2 this year)...

his fumehood and working bench have photos of his son! (i like his son though i'm yet to meet the cutie)

Chris is working in the fumehood opposite from my side.

He's a super dog lover and plays basketball!

His favorite word is "INDEED" and it's fun to use in front of him!!!

It's me at my desk!

(it's kinda plain and boring for now...will do something to it soon~~)

*psst*....our team's getting a treat for lunch tmr from the boss!

21 Mar 2008

it's 4.30pm and we are already done for the day!!
and it's Friday...Good Friday!!
though we have to work, we manage to go off early...
hehee....when you are off early, it's time to go "walk-walk"...
Stuyvesant Plaza as planned!
not a big but not too bad place to walk around...
at least they have some decent retails, bookstore, cafe, bakery and restaurants...
way far better than the 20 mall near my apartment!!
since we are out, it's time to treat ourselves to some better food...

T.G.I.F.....
i realised till now i don't feel a need to wait to long for Friday to come...
exactly 2 mths since i started working AMRI,
time flies....everyday and every week passes like in a blink of an eye!
seriously regardless whether it's a normal working day or weekends....
i don't know why...maybe i'm enjoying it here~
hoping things can remain in this way for a while longer...
******
Everyone likes it!!

It's just like a typical American restaurant...

One of the rare occasions where all the 3 Med Chem trainees,
(Agnes, Joelle and myself)
can knock off early together...

20 Mar 2008 - 1st WebConference

feeling jitty and nerve-wrecking today!!
everytime when i though of the coming webconference later in the evening,
where i will be presenting my chemistry for the very 1st time to the client...
trying to talk in the chemistry language...
with all the PhDs pple around...you know you cant fool them!!
one good thing is that i don't have to be face to face talking to the client...
all thanks to the advance technology!!
i was getting sleepy by the time my team was presenting...
so i got really awake and shocked when i heard them calling my name!
haha...heck it, man!
i started with "GOOD MORNING!" even before i sat down properly...
(they just started working over in Japan)
a "GOOD EVENING!" reply coming from the other end...
(yes...it's nearly "good night" soon actually)
i talked about my chemistry slides loudly!
so that they can hear me clearly over the speaker,
preventing my seniors from teasing me of becoming softer as i present..
true enough...PX is bound to bump into mistakes and stuffs...
hehe...i corrected it myself on the spot!
i'm surprised that i'm really sober and so aware of things...
ohh...i did answered a simple question too!!
haha...my answer was reassuring them that though the reaction was bad...
i did made enough for them to test!! yeah~
(seriously i had a hard time trying listen and understanding them)
the ultimate thing coming from them was a joke before i end my part!
it helps...it lighten my heart...partly cos i'm done and going home soon!
i'm happy i did it!!
i'm glad that i didn't "throw anyone's face"!!
but i know i gonna buckle down and talk more in chemistry language...
with the stressful and scary project review coming up next Thurs,
face to face with the company's big shots...
i wouldn't wanna be a dork!

"Chopping" spot for the parade!

it's really a parade for the Irish!!

08 Mar 2008 - "Lo Hei"

a gloomy rainy Saturday...
been home the whole day before the rest of the guys came over for yusheng...
this was the only thing we did for this weekend...
all thanks to the wet and crazy weather outside,
staying indoors was the best choice!

radish and carrot that took me 45 mins to get them finely shredded and juiced!
all nicely arranged on the tray...
ready for the "lo hei"~~
(it's abit of hard work to make something you wanna eat!!)

here's the long-awaited yusheng!

Pose for a pic!!
and Ready...Steady....
GO!!
All the best of luck to everyone~~
******
(at last i got yusheng in my mouth!! haha...it's better to be late than never....)

Winnie "feeding" me!
